A Legacy of Performance. A Future of Possibility.
Infra Pipes’ roots go back nearly a century, tracing a journey from timber trading in Finland to pioneering HDPE infrastructure across North America. Through decades of innovation, international expansion, and industry leadership, we’ve grown into one of the most trusted polyethylene pipe manufacturers in the market today—backed by a legacy of performance and built for what’s next.
Built on Ingenuity Since the 1930s
Our story begins in 1929, when Emil Höglund and Edvin Wiik founded Wiik & Höglund, a timber company in Finland. A bold shift to plastics in the early 1950s transformed the business, positioning it at the forefront of polymer-based manufacturing. By the 1960s and ’70s, Wiik & Höglund had achieved what was once thought impossible—extruding pipes up to 5.25 feet (1,600 mm) in diameter—and had fully exited the timber trade to focus on becoming Finland’s largest plastics company.
From Europe to Canada and Beyond
A pivotal partnership with DuPont led to the opening of Wiik & Höglund’s first North American factory in Huntsville, Ontario in 1967, a facility that remains part of our operations today. Over the following decades, the company expanded into the U.S. and restructured under the name KWH Pipe, a nod to founders Höglund, Wiik, and their later partner Karl Johan Stuns (K, W, and H). A second Canadian facility in Saskatoon was added in the 1990s through further partnership with DuPont.
From KWH to Uponor, and Back Again
In 2013, KWH Pipe merged with Finnish infrastructure leader Uponor to form Uponor Infra, combining deep technical expertise in water systems and HDPE manufacturing. In 2018, the North American assets of Uponor Infra were acquired by Wynnchurch Capital and relaunched as Infra Pipes—marking the company’s return to independent ownership and a renewed focus on operational excellence, service, and growth.
Expanding Our Reach. Strengthening Our Network.
Infra Pipes’ growth has been driven by a series of strategic acquisitions that expanded its capabilities and North American reach. In 2020, the company acquired Endot Industries, significantly broadening its portfolio of small-diameter tubing, conduit, and gas distribution products and strengthening its U.S. presence. In November 2024, Fortress Investment Group acquired Infra Pipes, providing capital and strategic support to advance integration and operational excellence.
This momentum continued in 2025 with the acquisition of the Jacksonville, Florida manufacturing facility formerly operated by Flying W Plastics—at the time marketing Infra Pipes’ sixth manufacturing site. As the company’s most advanced U.S. plant, Jacksonville became the first facility outside of Canada to produce Weholite® large-diameter structured wall pipe, while also enhancing Infra Pipes’ ability to support “Made in America” requirements and improve regional responsiveness for customers across the United States.
Expanding Capabilities with Atkore HDPE Acquisition
In 2026, Infra Pipes continued its strategic growth with the acquisition of Atkore’s high-density polyethylene (HDPE) conduit pipe business. This addition broadened the company’s portfolio of HDPE products, particularly in electrical and utility conduit applications, while expanding manufacturing capacity and distribution reach across North America. The acquisition strengthens Infra Pipes’ ability to deliver a more comprehensive range of infrastructure solutions, reinforcing its commitment to reliability, accessibility, and meeting the evolving needs of customers across key markets.
Where Legacy Meets Leadership
From European origins to North American industry leadership, Infra Pipes’ history is built on resilience, innovation, and trust. Our deep roots in HDPE manufacturing give us the experience to solve today’s infrastructure challenges, and the scale, agility, and expertise to take on tomorrow’s.
